Transfer Rules & Post-Season Awards

NYSPHSAA Transfer Rule
To ensure athletic equity across districts, the state transfer rule is strictly enforced:

• With a Change of Residence: A transferring student is immediately eligible once regular attendance begins, provided parents have completely abandoned their previous home and established a permanent residence within ESM boundaries.
• Without a Change of Residence: Students transferring without a corresponding move are ineligible to compete for one calendar year in any sport they participated in during the preceding school year, unless a certified waiver or hardship petition is formally approved by the Section III office.

Post-Season Award Recognition
To receive any post-season athletic recognition, varsity letters, or certificates, an athlete must complete the entire sports season (including all post-season and sectional play) in good standing.

• Varsity Awards:
  • 6" ESM Varsity Letter (1st year, limit one per athlete)
  • Sport Pin (each subsequent year)
• Participation Certificates: Issued upon coach’s request, with proper notice.
