Tryouts, Cuts & Playing Time

Roster Cuts

While we wish we could accommodate every student-athlete, safety guidelines, space constraints and roster limits require us to restrict team sizes in certain sports.

  • Coaches will evaluate athletes objectively using clear, sport-specific criteria (e.g., skills, conditioning, attitude, and attendance).
  • Cut decisions will be communicated individually and empathetically; public team lists will not be posted.
  • JV Roster Rules: No seniors are permitted on a JV squad (except approved foreign exchange students). Juniors require approval from the Athletic Director to play JV.

Playing Time Guidelines
Playing time is determined by attitude, attendance, hustle, physical conditioning, skill execution, and game strategies. Expectations differ by program level and will be determined by the head coach:

  • Modified & Junior Varsity Levels: While our foundation is built on participation, skill development, and teamwork, we channel these values into teaching student-athletes what it takes to compete to win.
  • Varsity Level: While development is still important, Varsity athletics place a much higher emphasis on competitive
    success and team execution.
