Academic & Daily Eligibility Standards
Academic & Daily Eligibility
Student-athletes are STUDENTS first. To participate in any extracurricular or athletic activity, students must meet strict
academic and attendance requirements:
Academic Criteria
- Course Load: Students must carry a minimum of four (4) credit-bearing subjects (including Physical Education) per semester.
- Passing Average: Students must maintain an average of 65% or above and pass at least five (5) credit-bearing courses (or all scheduled classes if taking fewer than five) at the end of each report card period.
- Incompletes: Incompletes do not count as passed. If not resolved within two weeks, the student remains ineligible until the next report card is issued.
Academic Probation Levels
- First Offense: The student is placed on a two-week probation. They may practice with the team but are prohibited from game competition. If they meet academic standards within these two weeks, the probation is lifted.
- Second Offense (Within the Same Season): The student faces a mandatory two-week probation. A meeting will be scheduled with the administrator, counselor, coach, and parent to establish an academic progress plan.
Daily Attendance Cut-off
- The 10:30 AM Rule: Any student-athlete who is absent, leaves school due to illness, or arrives late to school after 10:30 AM cannot participate in practice or a contest on that day.
- Excused Absences: Legally excused students (non-illness) may participate, and the administration reserves the right to verify the validity of any excuse.
- PE Participation: Student-athletes must actively participate in Physical Education class to be eligible to play or practice that day.
Vacation Policy
- Varsity Athletes: Any Varsity athlete who misses a game(s) and/or practice(s) over a vacation break is subject to any of the consequences determined by the Head Coach. Any school or vacation activity conflicts must be communicated and resolved prior to cuts or the first contest.
- JV & Modified Athletes: It is expected that JV and Modified athletes attend all scheduled games and practices over vacation breaks. If an athlete does miss a contest or practice, they may be subject to consequences regarding game-play participation (up to and including sitting out equivalent days of competition), to be determined at the discretion of the coaching staff.
